LOUIS VUITTON, Stairs

Louis Vuitton Store in Rome

In the Louis Vuitton store in Hong Kong, architect Peter Marino developed an interactive staricase. The steps enclose a plasma screen that plays technicolor tricks on the eye.

Colin Fournier & Peter Cook. Kunsthaus Graz Austria

On the banks of the river Mur, on the corner of the Südtirolerplatz and the Lendkai. Graz has a new architectural landmark, an extraordinary exhibition hall designed by Peter Cook and Colin Fournier. Kunsthaus Graz, better known as the “friendly alien”, is meant to inspire its curators with an interior as a “black box of hidden tricks”, its outer skin is a media facade which can be changed electronically.
Like a bubble of air, the bluish, shimmering skin of the Kunsthaus floats above its glass-walled ground floor. Spanning up to 60 metres in width, the biomorphic construction envelops two large exhibition rooms without additional supports.
From the surface of the acrylic glass outer "skin", strikingly shaped "nozzles" project outwards to admit daylight: they are inclined to the north and thus provide optimum natural lighting.

Coop Himmelblau

The new Art Museum Strongoli in Calabria is the third COOP HIMMELB(L)AU project in Italy. The museum is not only a cultural center but also understood as a generator for a future development of Calabria, a place for cultural entertainment and recreation.
The Art Museum is situated on the top of the “Motta Grande” hill in front of the city, visible from far away. The new museum houses not only flexible exhibition spaces, but also a small “multi-hall” and a panorama restaurant. The project is a composition of three main elements: the emblematic, cone-shaped construction with the entrance is orientated towards the city, while the cantilevering restaurant at the opposite end of the building offers a panoramic terrace facing the sea in the east. Both public attractors are linked by a two-storey exhibition volume.
